"We are the culmination of the steps of OUR ancestors, and steps we do not know but dare to take". Through our products we seek to reintroduce you to and inspire from our collective cultural heritage.

OUR MISSION

Malla Ancestral Arts ain’t just a brand — it’s my roots, my people, and the journey that shaped me, stitched into every piece. Born of Indo-Asian blood and Gullah Geechee soul, I was raised by Detroit hands — folks from Black Bottom on the East Side and Seven Mile on the West, where the stories run deep and the lessons last longer than time. I come from a line that been walkin’ this earth long before me, and now with a few good seasons on my back, I carry them stories forward. Malla was born to honor that — to blend the old ways of my African, South Asian, and Native ancestors with designs that speak to the now. Our pieces ain’t just clothes, they’re history you can feel, crafted from organic, ethically sourced materials, meant to connect you to where you come from and where you’re goin’. Round here, we walk by this truth: “We are the culmination of the steps of our ancestors and the steps we do not know but dare to take.” So when you wear Malla, you ain’t just steppin’ out — you steppin' in the footprints of those who came before, and cuttin’ paths for those still to come.

CHILDREN OF THE GREAT MIGRATION

Great Migration Series

We ain’t just wearin’ clothes—we carryin’ legacy.

The Great Migration was when millions of our people dipped out the Jim Crow South, headed North with heavy hearts and high hopes. They built new lives from scratch—brick by brick, soul by soul. And the Midwest? Especially Detroit? It became the heartbeat of that whole movement.

Our city turned into a Black haven—music, motors, and mad pride. From Black Bottom to 12th Street, the culture grew roots.

This line carry that energy. Every stitch hold a story.

South heat in the seams, Midwest grind in the cut.

It feel like grandma’s hymn and the bus ride North.

Look like Black Bottom on a summer night.

Move like memory—strong, proud, and never lost.

This Malla. This Detroit. This us.

Reclaim it. Rock it. Remind ‘em.
